Details for "Financial Problems and the Fringe Economy"

Worrying about money issues can lead to serious problems. In search of solutions to financial problems, people often fall prey to “an easy way out” in the “Fringe Economy” that may create bigger problems. This workshop focuses on the affects of worrying about money and explains what is the “Fringe Economy.” It also provides useful information for possible solutions to financial problems.

Speaker Esmeralda Alamia, LMSW

A graduate from University of Houston, Esmeralda’s experience includes 20 years directing programs in the areas of public relations, healthcare, mental health mental retardation, migrant head start and HIV-AIDS. Fifteen of these years include working with and advocating for the homelessness. She organized the first homeless coalition in Hidalgo County, Texas and coordinated efforts in search of funding with other homeless service providers in the Rio Grande Valley. Currently she serves as Chair for the Membership Committee of the Texas Homeless Network. Esmeralda has served this Network since 1994 and has also been a member of their Advisory Board. She is also a current member of the Homeless Services Coordinating Council of the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County. Esmeralda is a certified trainer for the Active Communication for Couples and Positive Parenting programs. She is currently providing mental health counseling to individuals and families in the Bay Area and Midtown offices
