Services Provided
Catholic Charities believes that every child has the right to the love, protection and care provided by a stable, capable and permanent family. The waiting children in the adoption program are primarily school age and represent a broad range of ethnic and racial backgrounds. A majority of the children are African American or Hispanic. Most often, the children have brothers and sisters who want to be adopted together.
Our program serves children in the managing conservatorship of Children's Protective Services. The children have endured abuse, neglect and abandonment.
Our waiting children deserve parents who can provide love, nurture and commitment in a permanent home. Many individuals have the qualities to parent these children.
The program will:
Assist families with the application process.
Provide education classes to help parents learn the unique needs of the children.
Work closely with families to determine their strengths through the home study process.
Offer support group meetings for waiting and adoptive families.
Provide guidance and support during and after the placement of a child in an adoptive home.
Facilitate the legal finalization of the adoption.
Eligibility
Adoptive parents must be at least 21 years of age, married (at least two years) or single, in good physical and mental health, financially stable and pass criminal and child abuse screenings. We serve families in Harris and surrounding counties.
Fees
There are no fees for adoptive parents.
Staff
Licensed professionals with many years of child placing experience provide services.

History of Program
Catholic Charities has a long history of providing adoption services. The program for the placement of older children in the custody of the state into adoptive families was formally organized in the year 2000. Since that time, the program has placed many children in loving, safe and permanent homes.
Those interested in becoming adoptive parents are invited to complete an
application.
