Services Provided

Services provided are determined by the client and the respective request which may consist of the following: petitioning the court, providing unidentified or identified information, birth history update, medical information, facilitating exchanges in closed and semi-closed adoptions, addressing issues in open adoptions. Individual and group counseling is available. Initiating and facilitating searches and reunions, and annual reunions. Search Support Groups are held monthly on the 2nd Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Eligibility Criteria (Age, etc.)

Post adoption provides services to members of the triad and their families who adopted through Catholic Charities, Harris County District Court referred clients, and clients referred from other cities, counties and state agencies.

Service Area/Location

Services are provided at the central office at 2900 Louisiana. Clients live in Harris and surrounding counties, throughout Texas and the United States.

Staff

Services are provided by a Licensed Master of Social Work counselor.

Volunteer Opportunities (Special Projects)

General clerical work to help with typing, mail outs, and data entry to keep adoption registry up to date.

History of Program/How Long in Existence

In the late 1970’s, Catholic Charities established a formalized post adoption program providing comprehensive services to all members of the triad. Post Adoption follows the guidelines of Council of Accreditation Standards, Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services, and Texas Voluntary Registry.
