History of Program/How Long In Existence This program began over 20 years ago as a friendly visitor program to home bound seniors residing in the inner city. The primary focus was on the basic needs of the elderly, such as transportation for medical appointments and grocery shopping. The program has evolved into a comprehensive case management service designed to help seniors age in place safely. This free service is funded by operating funds from the United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast and foundations.
