Pope Francis Encourages Catholic Charities Family

Cynthia N. Colbert, MSW President and CEO of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston participated in the Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) Annual Gathering that was held on October 4-7th in Charlotte, North Carolina. The theme of the gathering was: Setting the Pace: Changing the Course, and it provides an opportunity for Catholic Charities professionals, volunteers, and partners to advance our work, strategize about poverty reduction, and celebrate our shared identity. Speakers included Sister Anne Bryan Smollin, C.S.J., William Evans, James Sullivan and Dr. Ruby K. Payne, PhD. Helping to set the tone, Pope Francis addressed attendees, and all who are involved in the Catholic Charities mission to provide help and hope for those in need. Donating toys for Christmas

Thank you to Houston Young Laywers association for the generous donation of gifts for three of our programs, St. Jerome Foster Care program, Domestic Foster Care program and Pregnancy and Parenting programs! 

Donate food to food pantry

Store Manager, Ron Schlimper (far right) hosted an executive visit with representatives from Catholic Charities, Guadalupe Center, Houston Food Bank, and Kroger. Meeting all Houston Food Bank training guidelines, Guadalupe Center will now be picking perishable products from Kroger West Gray in addition to dry groceries for our food pantry.

Christmas Donations 2014

The Saint Pius X High School Volleyball teams recently capped off their regular season by dropping off gifts and gift cards at Catholic Charities to support our Share Your Blessings Christmas program! A huge thank you to the girls and their head coach Preston Smith!
