“A Cardinal’s Christmas” Luncheon Brings Cheer and Raises $250,000 for Catholic CharitiesA_Cardinal’s_Christmas_2012

Houston – (Dec. 8, 2012) Children excitedly joined His Eminence Daniel Cardinal DiNardo on stage to hear him read a story of the true meaning of Christmas at Catholic Charities’ fourth annual fundraising luncheon, “A Cardinal’s Christmas,” Saturday, Dec. 8 at the River Oaks Country Club.

The holiday tradition drew more than 340 guests and raised $250,000 to support Catholic Charities’ children and family services. Important to the success of this event were this year’s chairs Holly and Michael Garner. Their daughters, 7-year-old Audrey and 3-year-old Meredith Garner, had the honor of serving as the St. Nicholas Chairs.

Also instrumental in the success was Suzanne Maloch who served as this year’s Underwriting Chair. Before the festive luncheon, children from the St. Anne’s Choir and St. Catherine’s Montessori School Orchestra filled the air with holiday music while young guests and those young at heart had fun creating Christmas-themed arts and crafts mementos.

The guests were introduced to Catholic Charities’ new President/CEO Cynthia N. Colbert, formerly of Catholic Charities in Wichita, Kansas and Austin, Texas. Also joining the festivities were Catholic Charities Board Chairman David Harvey Jr. and Board of Directors members Elizabeth Husseini, Stan Marek, Colin Hageney and their families.
